Honorary doctorate

Today I had the privilege of receiving a very special honor: the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Dunărea de Jos University of Galați awarded me an honorary doctorate (Dr. h. c.). The award was presented on the occasion of the Faculty’s 35th anniversary and during the 24th International Conference “Risk in Contemporary Economy,” which brought together around 200 scholars from more than 15 countries.

This distinction means a great deal to me. It is not only a personal recognition but also a reflection of an academic spirit that values openness and interdisciplinarity. My academic path has always been intentionally broad – shaped by curiosity, detours, and the belief that complex questions cannot be answered with one-dimensional solutions.

I feel deeply grateful to all those who have accompanied me along the way – colleagues who placed their trust in me and challenged me. Research is never a solitary endeavor. It thrives on exchange, on the shared pursuit of understanding – and sometimes on a kind word at just the right moment.

My sincere thanks go to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Dunărea de Jos University of Galați, whose academic tradition and openness I deeply admire. Knowing that my work is now, in some small way, connected to their history fills me with pride – and with the motivation to focus even more deliberately on questions that truly matter.
